Located on the 14th floor of a high rise in Manhattan’s Financial District, this former mechanical floor had the requisite ceiling heights to allow for a 21,000 square foot squash club for Open Squash, a non-profit organization with a mission of making squash accessible to everyone. With this mandate, we designed a welcoming space that includes eight courts – one being a glass court suitable for broadcasting and live tournaments. The facility also includes a gym, large change rooms with showers, a cafe, offices, laundry, and a flex classroom space. Vibration isolation systems were used at specific floor, wall, and ceiling connections to mitigate sound transfer to others in the building.
